Rather predictable result in Aigaleo where sixth ranked PAOK (11-9) edged 8th ranked Ionikos (7-13) 84-83 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 21-17 charge, which allowed them to win the game. PAOK forced 23 Ionikos turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Malcolm Griffin (193-91, college: FPU, agency: Higher Vision Sports) who helped to win the game recording 18 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals and the other American import guard Jermaine Love (188-89, college: UIS) who added 18 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) during the contest. PAOK's coach Aris Likogiannis used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American forward Jeremy Hollowell (203-94, college: Georgia St., agency: Network Sports International) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and international point guard Vasileios Toliopoulos (186-96) scored 13 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Four PAOK and five Ionikos players scored in double figures. PAOK have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place. Newly promoted Ionikos dropped to the ninth position with 13 games lost. PAOK will face Peristeri GS (#6) in Athens in the next round. Ionikos will play on the road against Aris in Thessaloniki and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
