Regular Season Round 24: Almeria - Martos 81-60
Date: April 10, 2021
There was no surprise when 10th ranked Martos (4-11) was crushed on the road by sixth ranked Almeria (9-6) 81-60 on Saturday. Almeria forced 22 Martos turnovers. The best player for the winners was American guard Jordan Hickman (201-96, college: Sonoma St.) who scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. Guard Luis Rueda (186-96) chipped in 9 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Venezuelan-Uruguayan center Julio Miglionico (202-91) who recorded 20 points and center Jose Manuel Gutierrez (200-98) added 10 points and 11 rebounds respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Almeria have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place in Group D-A, which they share with El Pinar. Martos lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with 11 games lost. Almeria will have a break next round. Martos will play at home against Estepona (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
