Not a big story in a game in Arrecife where 9th ranked Lanzarote (3-14) was defeated by sixth ranked Guadalajara (7-8) 69-65 on Saturday. Guadalajara made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was forward Raul Lazaro (195-87) who scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. Venezuelan power forward Luis Valera (202-88, college: UTRGV) chipped in 17 points. At the other side the best for losing team was center Candido Matoso (207-92) who recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and Trinidad and Tobago center Chike Augustine (206-92, college: Martin Methodist) added 15 points and 10 rebounds respectively. Lanzarote's coach Ivan Fernandez tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Guadalajara moved-up to fifth place in Group B-A. Loser Lanzarote keeps the ninth position with 14 games lost. Guadalajara will face higher ranked Dist.Olimpico (#4) in Madrid in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Lanzarote will play on the road against Pozuelo (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
