Regular Season Round 21: Kolossos HH - AEK 79-72

The game between third ranked AEK (15-6) and eighth ranked Kolossos HH (8-13) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. AEK was defeated by Kolossos HH in a tough game in Rodou 72-79. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 30-11. But AEK won second period 20-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Kolossos HH won last quarter 21-15. They made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Strangely AEK outrebounded Kolossos HH 37-22 including 26 on the defensive glass. 24 personal fouls committed by AEK helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American point guard Glynn Watson Jr (183-97, college: Nebraska) who scored 25 points. Turkish forward Kerem Kanter (207-95, college: Xavier) chipped in 22 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Daryl Macon (190-95, college: Arkansas) who recorded 22 points and 5 assists and the other American import Keith Langford (193-83, college: Kansas) added 20 points respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kolossos HH moved-up to seventh place. AEK at the other side keeps the third position with six games lost. Kolossos HH are looking forward to face Ionikos (#10) in Aigaleo in the next round. AEK's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Athens Panathinaikos.
