There was a surprise result when eleventh ranked Senigallia (7-9) rolled over on the road 4th placed Ancona (10-7) 101-77 on Sunday. Senigallia dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Ancona's 34. They outrebounded Ancona 36-19 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Guard Michele Peroni (190-94) orchestrated the victory by scoring 29 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Giacomo Gurini (192-84) contributed with 19 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Michele Caverni (186-96, agency: SLN) answered with 23 points and forward Gianmarco Leggio (202-94) added 13 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Ancona. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Senigallia moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Imola and Cecina. Loser Ancona dropped to the fifth position with seven games lost. Senigallia will face Civitanova (#15) at home in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Ancona will play against Vicenza (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
