Very predictable result when second ranked Maccabi Ashdod (16-7) defeated at home 9th ranked H.Ramat Gan (12-13) 89-72 on Friday. Maccabi Ashdod looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a great evening for guard Noam Laish (182-93) who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points. Jamaican-American swingman Durand Scott (195-90, college: Miami, FL) helped adding 20 points and 4 assists. At the losing side point guard Guy Palatin (193-0) responded with 20 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals and American guard Mike Holton Jr (186-90, college: St.Michael's) scored 21 points. Four H.Ramat Gan players scored in double figures. Maccabi Ashdod maintains second place with 16-7 record having four points less than leader E.Ashkelon. Loser H.Ramat Gan keeps the ninth position with 13 games lost. Maccabi Ashdod will face Hapoel H/M (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day.
