Rather predictable result when twelfth ranked Caceres Basket (8-4) defeated at home 16th ranked Basquet (6-6) 88-70 on Friday. Caceres Basket made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. American guard Devin Schmidt (193-94, college: Delta St., agency: Duran International) scored 28 points and 4 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) to lead the charge for the winners and forward Francisco Del Aguila (200-99) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Four Caceres Basket players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Venezuelan forward Michael Carrera (196-93, college: S.Carolina, agency: Interperformances) with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 14 rebounds and American-Dominican Eddy Polanco (190-94, college: SE Louisiana) scored 13 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Caceres Basket moved-up to eleventh place. Loser Basquet dropped to the seventeenth position with six games lost. Caceres Basket will face Real Murcia (#15) on the road in the next round. Basquet will play against Ourense and hope to win that game.
