Very expected game when 10th ranked Varese (7-12) was edged at home by fifth ranked Crema (13-6) 80-78 on Saturday. Forward Riccardo Pederzini (198-89) scored 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and forward Marco Arrigoni (198-91, agency: SLN) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Crema's coach Riccardo Eliantonio used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was point guard Lorenzo Gergati (188-84) with 25 points and the former international forward Marco Allegretti (204-81) scored 20 points and 6 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Crema have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Bernareggio. Loser Varese dropped to the eleventh position with 12 games lost. Crema will face Fiorenzuola (#12) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Varese will play against Ragusa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
