There was a surprise result when ninth ranked Betanzos (6-9) edged on the road 4th placed Leon (8-5) 88-85 on Sunday. Center Marcos Rozas (202-83) stepped up and scored 22 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and guard Guillermo Pereiro (191-89) chipped in 16 points and 4 assists. At the losing side swingman Marcos Fernandez (191-99) responded with 22 points and 5 rebounds and Rodrigo Llamas (191-1) scored 11 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Betanzos have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to eighth place in Group A-C. Loser Leon keeps the fourth position with five games lost. Betanzos will face Estudiantes L. (#10) in Lugo in the next round. Leon will play on the road against Culleredo (#9) and hope to win that game.
