Not a big story in a game when 9th ranked Lanzarote (3-15) was defeated on the road by seventh ranked Pozuelo (8-10) 66-56 on Sunday. Pozuelo outrebounded Lanzarote 37-23 including 28 on the defensive glass. Guard Borja Lopez (187-93) stepped up and scored 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and center Pablo Rodrigo (204-86) chipped in 10 points and 10 rebounds. Pozuelo's coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side Trinidad and Tobago center Chike Augustine (206-92, college: Martin Methodist) responded with 14 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks and center Candido Matoso (207-92) scored 13 points. Pozuelo moved-up to sixth place in Group B-A. Lanzarote lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with 15 games lost. Pozuelo will face higher ranked Dist.Olimpico (#4) in Madrid in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lanzarote will play on the road against Tobarra (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
