An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Ashdod. Second ranked Maccabi Ashdod faced 3rd ranked Hapoel H/M. Host Maccabi Ashdod (17-7) smashed guests from (15-9) 80-61. Maccabi Ashdod made 21-of-26 charity shots (80.8 percent) during the game, while Hapoel H/M only scored five points from the stripe. Maccabi Ashdod players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. American forward Billy McShepard (208-87, college: Valdosta St., agency: Blacktop Management) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. The former international Raviv Pitshon (198-89) contributed with 20 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Maccabi Ashdod players scored in double figures. American LaceDarius Dunn (193-87, college: Baylor) replied with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists and his fellow American import Storm Warren (211-88, college: LSU) added 13 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Hapoel H/M. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Maccabi Ashdod maintains second position with 17-7 record having just three points less than leader E.Ashkelon. Hapoel H/M at the other side dropped to the fourth place with nine games lost. Maccabi Ashdod will play against H.Acre (#13) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Hapoel H/M will play against H.Afula (#7) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
