Regular Season Round 22: Promitheas - Panathinaikos 61-83
Date: April 24, 2021
Not a big story in a game when 3rd ranked Promitheas (16-6) was outscored by first ranked Panathinaikos (20-2) in Patras 83-61 on Saturday. The game without a history. Panathinaikos led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Promitheas' 30. They outrebounded Promitheas 45-30 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for the former international center Georgios Papagiannis (220-97) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds. The former international forward Ioannis Papapetrou (203-94, college: Texas) contributed with 14 points for the winners. Four Panathinaikos players scored in double figures. The former international forward Charis Giannopoulos (206-89, agency: Network Sports International) replied with 16 points and American guard Jerian Grant (196-92, college: Notre Dame, agency: Wasserman) added 13 points and 4 assists in the effort for Promitheas. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Panathinaikos have an impressive ten-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 20-2 record. Promitheas at the other side keeps the third place with six games lost.
