Regular Season Round 20: Tindastoll - Thor Thorl 92-91

There was an upset in Sauoarkrokur where second-ranked Thor Thorl (12-6) was edged by sixth ranked Tindastoll (9-9) 92-91 on Sunday. Thor Thorl was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Tindastoll dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Thor Thorl's 28. They outrebounded Thor Thorl 37-24 including 22 on the defensive glass. Tindastoll looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Croatian-American guard Nikolas Tomsick (185-91, college: Fort Lewis) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists and Slovenian forward Jaka Brodnik (203-92) who added 18 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. American point guard Larry Thomas (185-93, college: BSC, agency: SDJ Sports) responded with 22 points and 6 assists and international Styrmir Thrastarson (200-1) scored 19 points and 7 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Tindastoll have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain sixth position with 9-9 record. Thor Thorl at the other side keeps the second place with six games lost. Tindastoll will face Haukar (#11) in Hafnarfjordur in the next round where they are favorite. Thor Thorl will play at home against Valur (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
