Very expected game when 15th ranked Monopoli AN (4-16) was smashed on the road by fifth ranked Cassino (12-9) 96-76 on Sunday. Cassino dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Monopoli AN's 32 and made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Monopoli AN 42-25 including a 34-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Cassino looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Monopoli AN's players. Guard Daniele Grilli (190-87) orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Bosnian-Serbian power forward Njegos Visnjic (200-79) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winners. Naturalized San Marino power forward Matteo Botteghi (203-95) replied with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds and guard Mauro Torresi Lelli (189-84) added 19 points in the effort for Monopoli AN. Five Cassino and four Monopoli AN players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cassino have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Salerno. Newly promoted Monopoli AN keeps the fifteenth position with 16 games lost. Cassino will face Bisceglie (#8) on the road in the next round. Monopoli AN will play against Pozzuoli (#13) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
