Second Stage Round 8: Vigevano - Palermo 99-69

Very expected game when 16th ranked Palermo (3-17) was smashed on the road by fourth ranked Vigevano (15-6) 99-69 on Sunday. Vigevano dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Palermo's 30. They outrebounded Palermo 44-23 including a 36-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Vigevano looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists. Swingman Maurizio Tassone (196-90) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. Guard Stefano Borsato (193-86) contributed with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Vigevano's coach Paolo Piazza felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Naturalized Argentinian point guard Matias Di Marco (179-84) replied with 14 points and 8 assists and guard Giacomo Tosti (-94) added 14 points and 4 assists in the effort for Palermo. Five Vigevano and four Palermo players scored in double figures. Vigevano moved-up to third place, which they share with Bernareggio. Palermo lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the sixteenth position with 17 games lost. Vigevano will face Crema (#6) on the road in the next round. Palermo will play against Olginate (#12) and hope to win that game.
