There was a minor upset when 8th ranked Senigallia (9-10) was edged at home by tenth ranked Giulianova (10-11) 72-71 on Sunday. Naturalized Senegalese center Iba Koite Thiam (205-98, agency: Players Group) saved the victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field). Alberto Cacace (198-96) contributed with 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Giulianova's coach Andrea Zanchi used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Guard Giacomo Gurini (192-84) replied with 16 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and guard Michele Peroni (190-94) added 18 points in the effort for Senigallia. Four Senigallia players scored in double figures. Giulianova have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to eighth place. Loser Senigallia dropped to the ninth position with ten games lost. Giulianova will face league's leader Vicenza at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Senigallia will play against Teramo (#13) and hope to win that game.
