Everything went according to plan when third ranked Promitheas (16-6) defeated 10th ranked Iraklis (7-15) in Thessaloniki 90-85 on Wednesday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Promitheas looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Iraklis was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Charis Giannopoulos (206-89, agency: Network Sports International) who helped to win the game recording 23 points (made all of his eight free throws). American guard Jerian Grant (196-92, college: Notre Dame, agency: Wasserman) contributed with 13 points and 9 assists for the winners. American forward Devin Ebanks (206-89, college: WVU) replied with 19 points and 7 rebounds and his fellow American import swingman Scott Suggs (197-89, college: Washington) added 12 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists in the effort for Iraklis. Four Iraklis players scored in double figures. Iraklis' coach Thanasis Skourtopoulos rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Promitheas maintains third position with 16-6 record having four points less than leader Panathinaikos. Iraklis lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth place with 15 games lost.
