Regular Season Round 21: Haukar - Tindastoll 93-91

A very interesting game took place in Hafnarfjordur. It ended with only two-point defeat on the road of higher ranked Tindastoll (9-10) to eleventh ranked Haukar (6-13) 93-91 on Thursday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Tindastoll. It looked good early as Tindastoll took a 3-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Haukar had a 29-22 second period charge getting the lead and Tindastoll was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 91-93. Haukar made 20-of-26 charity shots (76.9 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three nailing 15 long-distance shots on high 53.6 percentage. Spanish-Colombian point guard Hansel Atencia (178-97, college: Master's) nailed 34 points (!!!) for the winning side and Italian-Argentinian Pablo Bertone (193-90, college: FAU, agency: Interperformances) accounted for 16 points and 5 assists. Haukar's coach Israel Martin allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Croatian-American guard Nikolas Tomsick (185-91, college: Fort Lewis) came up with 31 points and 9 assists and Slovenian forward Jaka Brodnik (203-92) added 23 points respectively for Tindastoll in the defeat. The victory was the third consecutive win for Haukar. They moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Hottur and Njardvik. Tindastoll at the other side keeps the sixth position with ten games lost. Haukar's next round opponent will be higher ranked Valur (#4) in Reykjavik and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
