Regular Season Round 27: Godella - Calpe 76-56

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when tenth ranked Godella (7-14) crushed 9th ranked Calpe (6-13) in Valencia 76-56 on Saturday. Godella forced 19 Calpe turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a good game for point guard Hugo Rueda (183-89) who led his team to a victory with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Oscar Gonzalez (195-98) contributed with 10 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four Godella players scored in double figures. Godella's coach Alex Martinez let to play all 12 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Point guard Juan Crespo (-94) answered with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and forward Fabio Astilleros (195-94) added 9 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Calpe. Godella moved-up to ninth place in Group E-Class. Calpe lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth position with 13 games lost. Godella will face higher ranked UAF Lucentum (#7) in Alicante in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Calpe will play at home against Lliria and hope to win that game.
