Date: May 1, 2021
An interesting game took place in Gravelines where 12th ranked Gravelines-Dunkerque (8-14) was upset on its own court by fifteenth ranked JSF Nanterre (8-13) 102-81. JSF Nanterre shot 62.3 percent from the field. JSF Nanterre outrebounded Gravelines-Dunkerque 37-20 including a 30-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. The winners were led by international Isaia Cordinier (196-96) who scored that evening 22 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and American point guard Chris Warren (177-88, college: Ole Miss) supported him with 26 points and 4 assists. Four JSF Nanterre players scored in double figures. Even 24 points and 6 assists by American point guard Briante Weber (188-92, college: VCU) did not help to save the game for Gravelines-Dunkerque. Romuald Morency (202-95) added 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. JSF Nanterre moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Cholet. Gravelines-Dunkerque lost sixth consecutive game. They dropped to the fourteenth position with 14 games lost. JSF Nanterre will play against higher ranked Le Portel (#10) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Gravelines-Dunkerque will play against Cholet Basket (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
