Regular Season Round 22: KR - Grindavik 83-85

The most exciting game of round 22 in the Dominos League took place in Reykjavik. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 5th ranked KR (10-10) to seventh ranked Grindavik (10-10) 85-83 in the game for the fifth place. KR trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 31-22 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 83-85 at the end of the game. They outrebounded KR 43-22 including a 18-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of Estonian forward Joonas Jarvelainen (201-90) who helped to win the game recording 22 points. Point guard Bjorgvin Rikhardsson (193-93) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Four Grindavik players scored in double figures. American guard Ty Sabin (190-94, college: Ripon, agency: Duran International) replied with 31 points and the former international point guard Matthias Sigurdarson (183-94, college: Columbus St.) added 16 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for KR. Grindavik moved-up to fifth place, which they share with defeated KR. KR lost fifth consecutive game. Grindavik is looking forward to face Tindastoll (#7) in Sauoarkrokur in the next round. KR will play on the road against Stjarnan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
