Everything went according to plan when second ranked Agrigento (18-4) outscored at home 10th ranked Varese (7-13) 88-69 on Sunday. They outrebounded Varese 42-24 including a 14-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Agrigento looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Varese's players. Giovanni Veronesi (198-98, agency: SLN) stepped up and scored 28 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and guard Andrea Saccaggi (190-89) chipped in 19 points and 7 assists. The best for the losing side was the former international forward Marco Allegretti (204-81) with 23 points and 6 rebounds and guard Matteo Maruca (185-97) scored 20 points. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Agrigento maintains second place with 18-4 record having just three point less than leader Rieti. Loser Varese dropped to the twelfth position with 13 games lost.
