Regular Season Round 22: Fjolnir - KR 105-67

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Reykjavik: Fjolnir (#4) and KR (#8). Fjolnir (13-7) smashed visiting KR (2-18) by 38 points 105-67. The game without a history. Fjolnir led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to KR's 36. Fjolnir forced 23 KR turnovers and outrebounded them 45-30 including 30 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 36 assists comparing to just 18 passes made by KR's players. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Ariel Hearn (171-94, college: Memphis) who helped to win the game recording a triple-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. Lithuanian power forward Lina Pikciute (192-90) contributed with 22 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Finnish forward Annika Holopainen (185-93, college: ODU) replied with 19 points and 6 rebounds and American point guard Taryn McCutcheon (165, college: Michigan St.) added 13 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for KR. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Fjolnir maintains fourth position with 13-7 record. KR lost sixth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 18 lost games. Fjolnir are looking forward to face Skallagrimur (#6) in Borganes in the next round. KR will play at home against the league's second-placed Haukar and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
