Regular Season Round 23: Stjarnan - KR 85-96

The game between third ranked Stjarnan (13-8) and sixth ranked KR (11-10) was the most important one in the last round on Thursday night. Stjarnan was defeated by KR in Stjarnan 96-85. The game was mostly controlled by KR. Stjarnan managed to win third quarter 24-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a great evening for American guard Ty Sabin (190-94, college: Ripon, agency: Duran International) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. His fellow American import Brandon Nazione (202-94, college: EMU) helped adding 12 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international point guard Aegir Steinarsson (185-91, college: Newberry, agency: Duran International) responded with 19 points and 8 assists and the former international power forward Hlynur Baeringsson (200-82) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds. Four KR and five Stjarnan players scored in double figures. Stjarnan's coach Arnar Gudjonsson rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. KR moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Grindavik and Valur. Defending champion Stjarnan keeps the third position with eight games lost. KR's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Reykjavik IR.
