Regular Season Round 1: Varese - Brescia 75-72

Varese used a home court advantage and edged the opponent from Brescia 75-72 on Sunday night. They outrebounded Brescia 44-27 including 30 on the defensive glass. The former international swingman Alessandro Gentile (201-92) stepped up and scored 18 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and American swingman Jalen Jones (201-93, college: Texas A&M) chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds. Four Varese players scored in double figures. At the losing side international Amedeo Della Valle (192-93, college: Ohio St., agency: BeoBasket) responded with 18 points (made all of his nine free throws !!!) and American forward Michael Cobbins (203-92, college: OK State) scored 14 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Brescia's coach Emanuele Di Paolantonio rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Varese will meet Virtus BO in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Brescia will play against Tortona and hope to win that game.
