Regular Season Round 1: Kouvot - Seagulls 83-78

Kouvot used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Helsinki 83-78 on Saturday night. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 83-78. Canadian guard Isiah Osborne (196-96, college: Carleton) nailed 26 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) for the winning side and American guard Amir Hinton (196-97, college: Shaw) accounted for 21 points and 8 rebounds. American power forward Brandon Sherrod (198-92, college: Yale) came up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds and guard Lassi Nikkarinen (187-97, college: Montana St.) added 19 points and 5 assists respectively for Seagulls in the defeat. Seagulls' coach Jussi Laakso tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Kouvot will meet Kataja in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Seagulls will play against Bisons and hope to win that game.
