There was no surprise when Politechnika Gd. was outleveled by Notec Inowr. in Gdansk 93-65 on Saturday. Notec Inowr. dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Politechnika Gd.'s 30. Notec Inowr. forced 20 Politechnika Gd. turnovers and outrebounded them 33-18 including 25 on the defensive glass. Mikolaj Grod (194-89) notched 27 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (on 13-of-16 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and point guard Aleksander Filipiak (185-90) supported him with 23 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Four Notec Inowr. players scored in double figures. Even 24 points by guard Wiktor Siemianiuk (186-4) did not help to save the game for Politechnika Gd.. Guard Stefan Marchlewski (184-98, college: Morrisville St.) added 6 points and 12 assists for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Notec Inowr. will meet at home Miedzychod in the next round where they are favorite. Politechnika Gd. will play against Tarnovia in Tarnowo Podgorne and hope to win that game.
