Athena-UMFK smashed Vestri in Reykjavík 79-49. The game without a history. Athena-UMFK led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Vestri to just 7 points in fourth quarter. Athena-UMFK dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Vestri's 34. Athena-UMFK forced 20 Vestri turnovers and outrebounded them 56-29 including a 22-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Violet Morrow (173-97, college: EWU) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 19 rebounds. Forward Asa Wolfram (176-5) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Morrow is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Athena-UMFK's coach felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Snaefridur Arnadottir (-4) answered with 12 points and 8 rebounds and guard Greta Hjaltadottir (-4) added 12 points in the effort for Vestri. Vestri will play next round against Fjolnir 2 trying to get back on the winning streak. Athena-UMFK will try to continue on its current victory against Armann in Reykjavik.
