Regular Season Round 2: Pyrinto - Nokia 101-89

There was a surprise result in Tampere where Pyrinto defeated Nokia 101-89 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 12 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 8-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 101-89. Pyrinto made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 23 Nokia turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was U.S. Virgin Islands forward Romani Hansen (203-97, college: Albany) who scored 25 points and 7 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Jamaican-Canadian point guard Shaquille Keith (198-93, college: Cape Breton) chipped in 15 points and 7 assists. Puerto Rican power forward Arnaldo Toro (203-97, college: St.John's) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 17 rebounds and American point guard Anthony Adger (185, college: FAU) added 16 points, 6 assists and 4 steals respectively for the guests. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Pyrinto will meet KTP Basket in the next round. Nokia will play against Seagulls and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
