Regular Season Round 2: Catz - PeKa 49-101

No shocking result in a game when Peli-Karhut smashed on the road Catz Lappeenranta 101-49 on Wednesday. The game without a history. Peli-Karhut led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Catz Lappeenranta's 24. Peli-Karhut forced 20 Catz Lappeenranta turnovers and outrebounded them 58-17 including a 21-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. Peli-Karhut looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American forward Zykera Rice (185-96, college: Gonzaga) had a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import swingman Naomi Davenport (180, college: WVU) chipped in 11 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Five Peli-Karhut players scored in double figures. Peli-Karhut's coach felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Seairra Barrett (183, college: California, PA) responded with 16 points and 6 rebounds and center Sara Behm (180-97) scored 7 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Peli-Karhut will meet Kouvottaret in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Catz Lappeenranta will play against Torpan Pojat in Helsinki and hope to win that game.
