But Vestri was not able to use a home court advantage and was edged by the opponent from Keflavik 101-99 on Thursday night. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Vestri won third quarter 25-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Vestri used huge pressure winning it 19-15 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 10-11. Keflavik looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Nigerian-Italian power forward David Okeke (204-98, agency: Interperformances) nailed a double-double by scoring 23 points and 15 rebounds for the winning side and point guard Valur Valsson (180-94, college: Florida Tech) accounted for 22 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists. American guard Ken-Jah Bosley (184-95, college: KWC) came up with 33 points (!!!) and 8 assists and Montenegrin power forward Nemanja Knezevic (205-87) added 22 points and 16 rebounds respectively for Vestri in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Keflavik will meet at home Stjarnan in the next round. Vestri will play against Thor Thorl in Thorlakshofn and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
