Rather expected game when Bosnian Banovici was smashed at home by Bulgarian Montana 99-39 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Montana. Banovici managed to win fourth quarter 19-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Banovici to just 4 points in second and third quarters. Montana held Banovici to an opponent 21.1 percent shooting from the field compared to 61.3 percent accuracy of the winners and made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. Montana forced 19 Banovici turnovers and outrebounded them 53-20 including a 43-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Banovici's players. Guard Borislava Dencheva (172-2) notched 15 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the effort and forward Gabriela Angelova (175-2) supported her with 19 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Montana's coach felt very confident using entire bench saving starting five for next games. Even 19 points by guard Milica Dragicevic (176-7) did not help to save the game for Banovici. Guard Maida Rahmanovic-Lacic (176-89) added 6 points and 6 rebounds for the hosts. Montana will meet Partizan in the next round where they are favorite. Banovici will play against Badel and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
