Regular Season Round 4: Bembibre - Valencia 61-91
Date: October 9, 2021
Very expected game when bottom-ranked Bembibre (0-4) was smashed at home by top-ranked Valencia (3-0) 91-61 on Saturday. Valencia dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Bembibre's 32. They outrebounded Bembibre 36-19 including a 28-10 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by international center Raquel Carrera (188-1) who scored that evening 12 points and 6 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and point guard Angela Salvadores (178-97, college: Duke) supported her with 16 points. Five Valencia players scored in double figures. Even 14 points by American guard Amber Melgoza (178-98, college: Washington) did not help to save the game for Bembibre. Slovenian forward Tina Jakovina (184-92, agency: LBM Management) added 11 points for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Valencia have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Avenida. Bembibre at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost. Valencia will meet at home Gernika (#8) in the next round where they are favorite. Bembibre will play against Promete (#6) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
