Regular Season Round 4: Almozara - L'Hospitalet 47-94
Date: October 9, 2021
Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both top-ranked L'Hospitalet and top-ranked Almozara had identical 1-0 record. But Almozara was not able to use a home court advantage and was smashed by the opponent from Hospitalet 94-47 on Saturday night. It was a key game for the top position in Group C-2. L'Hospitalet dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Almozara's 28. L'Hospitalet forced 20 Almozara turnovers and outrebounded them 37-23 including a 29-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Marcus Latham (190-98, college: Indianapolis) who helped to win the game recording 31 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals and Chadian center Placide Nakidjim (205-94) who added 12 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side forward Hugo Cano (195-93) responded with 8 points and 6 rebounds and swingman Sergio Perez (190-81) scored 6 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. L'Hospitalet (2-0) keeps a position of Group C-2 leader, which they share with Igualada and Esparreguera. Almozara at the other side dropped to the fourth place with one game lost. They share the position with 5 other teams. L'Hospitalet will meet Llucmajor (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Almozara will play against Martorell (#9) and hope to win that game.
