D1 top team - Haukar (4-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed tenth ranked Skallagrimur (0-4) in Borganes 113-81. The game without a history. Haukar led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Haukar outrebounded Skallagrimur 43-32 including 32 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. The winners were led by American guard Jeremy Smith (190-91, college: Nicholls St.) who scored that evening 26 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and Spanish point guard Jose Medina (185-93) supported him with 29 points. Four Haukar players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 22 points and 12 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) by Bosnian center Simun Kovac (203-96, college: Concord) did not help to save the game for Skallagrimur. Point guard Arnar Bjarnason (178-0) added 19 points and 4 steals for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Haukar have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 4-0 record, which they share with Hottur. Skallagrimur at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost. They share the position with IA. Haukar will play against Hrunamenn (#5) in Fludir in the next round. Skallagrimur will play on the road against the league's second-placed Hottur (#2) in Egilsstadir and hopes to get finally their first victory.
