Regular Season Round 4: Chalons-Reims - Le Portel 80-65

There was no surprise when 13th ranked Le Portel (1-3) lost on the road to fifth ranked Chalons-Reims (3-1) 80-65 on Friday. Chalons-Reims outrebounded Le Portel 51-32 including a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Chalons-Reims made 8 blocks. The winners were led by Felix Bastien (192-1) who scored that evening 14 points and 7 rebounds and guard Jawaad Tonye-Biyik (190-9) supported him with 9 points and 7 assists. Four Chalons-Reims players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 24 points and 12 rebounds by power forward Thomas Hanquiez (203-1) did not help to save the game for Le Portel. Naturalized Algerian guard Nadir Hifi (190-2) added 9 points and 9 assists for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Chalons-Reims moved-up to third place, which they share with 4 other teams. Le Portel lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fourteenth position with three games lost. Chalons-Reims will meet league's leader ASVEL in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Le Portel will play against Bourg (#4) and hope to win that game.
