Regular Season Round 5: Granada - Paterna 81-55

There was a surprise result when tenth ranked Granada (3-2) smashed at home higher ranked Paterna (3-2) 81-55 on Saturday. Granada forced 25 Paterna turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was point guard Marina Becerra (172-1) who scored 10 points and 7 rebounds. Belgian forward Heleen Nauwelaers (180-96) chipped in 14 points. Four Granada players scored in double figures. Granada's coach Maribel Pinar felt very confident using 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Point guard Claudia Contell (177-3) produced 17 points and power forward Iciar German (185-86) added 10 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Granada moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Paterna. Granada will meet Plasencia (#7) in the next round. Paterna will play against Al-Qazeres and hope to secure a win.
