Regular Season Round 4: Kauhajoki - Kouvot 101-82

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Kouvot (3-1) on the court of top-ranked Kauhajoki on Saturday night. Visitors were rolled over by Kauhajoki 101-82. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Kouvot. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Kauhajoki. Kouvot managed to win third quarter 26-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 19-of-19 free shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. Kauhajoki outrebounded Kouvot 43-23 including 19 on the offensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Cameron Jones (193-89, college: NAU, agency: BIG) who helped to win the game recording 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. The other American import swingman Rene Rougeau (198-86, college: UNLV, agency: Blacktop Management) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Jones is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American guard Deshon Taylor (188-96, college: Fresno St.) replied with 17 points (made all of his nine free throws !!!) and Sudanese swingman Makuach Maluach (196-98, college: N.Mexico) added 14 points in the effort for Kouvot. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Kauhajoki have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 4-0 record. Kouvot at the other side keeps the second place with one game lost. They share the position with Vilpas and Seagulls. Kauhajoki are looking forward to face Bisons (#9) in Loimaa in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Kouvot will play at home against Vilpas (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
