But Varese was not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Piombino 81-73 on Saturday night. It was a great evening for Saverio Mazzantini (195-95, agency: Players Group) who led his team to a victory scoring 16 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Mattia Venucci (185-90, agency: SLN) helped adding 16 points and 6 assists. The best for the losing side was guard Matteo Maruca (185-97) with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and the former international forward Marco Allegretti (204-81) scored 14 points and 9 rebounds. Varese's coach Gabriele Donati rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Piombino will meet at home Vigevano (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Varese will play against Firenze (#10) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
