Regular Season Round 3: Alicante - Melilla 75-78

There was no surprise when Alicante (0-3) was edged at home by Melilla (2-1) 78-75 on Sunday. Melilla made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for Belgian center Amaury Gorgemans (212-92) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points and 5 rebounds. Power forward Alejandro Mazaira (202-97) helped adding 8 points and 9 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American Gerel Simmons (188-93, college: LMU, agency: Duran International) with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and British center Aaron Menzies (221-96, college: St.Mary's, CA) scored 13 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Melilla will meet at home Juaristi ISB (#16) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Alicante will play against Estudiantes in Madrid and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
