Regular Season Round 3: Taranto - Salerno 82-76

There was a minor upset when Salerno (1-2) was defeated on the road by Taranto (1-2) 82-76 on Sunday. Taranto outrebounded Salerno 42-30 including 34 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for forward Giovanni Gambarota (190-89) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points and 8 rebounds. Estonian point guard Hugo Erkmaa (194-99) helped adding 17 points. The best for the losing side was guard Marco Mennella (194-99) with 17 points, 5 assists and 4 steals and center Leonardo Marini (205-95) scored 15 points and 5 rebounds. Four Salerno players scored in double figures. Taranto will meet Avellino (#13) on the road in the next round. Salerno will play against Pozzuoli where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
