Regular Season Round 3: Melilla - Unicaja 73-70

There was an upset when Unicaja (1-1) was edged on the road by Melilla (1-2) 73-70 on Sunday. Melilla had a 34-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Melilla especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 62.5 percentage. It was a great evening for Serbian power forward Bojana Stevanovic (180-96) who led her team to a victory scoring 23 points and 7 rebounds. Mali Aminata Traore (-0) helped adding 13 points and 14 rebounds. The best for the losing side was power forward Veronica Matoso (185-88) with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and swingman Salome Garcia (178-92) scored 4 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Unicaja players scored in double figures. Unicaja's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Melilla will meet Cordoba (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Unicaja will play against Almeria where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
