Regular Season Round 5: Haukar - Hrunamenn 112-76

Undefeated leader Haukar delivered the fifth consecutive victory. This time they crushed 5th ranked Hrunamenn (2-3) 112-76 in Hafnarfjordur. The game without a history. Haukar led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Hrunamenn's 32. They outrebounded Hrunamenn 45-26 including a 26-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Haukar players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. They brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. Spanish point guard Jose Medina (185-93) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points and 9 assists. Guard Emil Barja (194-91) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Five Haukar players scored in double figures. American guard Clayton Ladine (188, college: Rocky Mountain) answered with 19 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals and the other American import forward Kent Hanson (198-97, college: Carleton) added 18 points in the effort for Hrunamenn. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Haukar (5-0) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with a perfect record of 5 victories in a row. Hrunamenn at the other side dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. They share it with Hamar. Haukar will play against Selfoss (#5) on the road in the next round. Hrunamenn will play against Skallagrimur in Borganes and hopes to get back on the winning track.
