Regular Season Round 5: AZS PCz - Iskra Cz 65-97

There was a minor upset in Czestochowa where 10th ranked AZS PC (2-4) was rolled over by thirteenth ranked Iskra Cz (1-4) 97-65 on Wednesday. Iskra Cz dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to AZS PC's 34. Iskra Cz forced 21 AZS PC turnovers and outrebounded them 41-27 including a 35-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Iskra Cz especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. The best player for the winners was point guard Adrian Placzek (182-85) who scored 32 points and 6 rebounds. Guard Adam Michalak (191-0) chipped in a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!). Swingman Przemyslaw Laszewski (194-90) produced 10 points and 7 rebounds and forward Marcin Majcherek (199-99) added 7 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Iskra Cz left bottom position moving up to twelfth place in Group C, which they share with AZS AGH II and Tarnow. Loser AZS PC keeps the tenth position with four games lost. Iskra Cz will meet at home higher ranked Mickiewicz (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. AZS PC will play against Wisla Krakow (#6) and hope to secure a win.
