Very expected game when 10th ranked Union Rennes (2-4) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Poitiers (4-2) 76-71 on Friday. Poitiers made 26-of-32 free shots (81.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Union Rennes turnovers. The best player for the winners was Croatian Lovro Mazalin (204-97) who scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. American swingman Marcus Relphorde (198-88, college: Colorado) chipped in 17 points. Four Poitiers players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Guinean forward Cheick Sekou-Conde (203-92) who recorded 26 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and Senegalese power forward Mouhammad Faye (207-85, college: SMU) added 20 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Poitiers moved-up to third place in Group A, which they share with Toulouse and Vitre. Loser Union Rennes keeps the tenth position with four games lost. They share it with Cergy-Pontoise and Les Sables. Poitiers will meet at home Lourdes-Tarbes (#7) in the next round. Union Rennes will play against Lorient and hope to secure a win.
