Regular Season Round 6: Stade Rochelais - Lorient 58-77

There was a small surprise when ninth ranked Lorient (3-3) smashed on the road 7th ranked La Rochelle (2-3) 77-58 on Friday. Lorient dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to La Rochelle's 14. The best player for the winners was Ivorian center Bali Coulibaly (199-95) who scored 22 points and 6 rebounds. Naturalized Guinean forward Abdoulaye Sy (201-95) chipped in 13 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Lorient players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Franck Seguela (198-97) who recorded 15 points and 5 rebounds and British V.Islands forward Norville Carey (201-93, college: Rider, agency: BIG) added 12 points (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) respectively. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Lorient moved-up to sixth place in Group A, which they share with Lourdes. Loser La Rochelle dropped to the eighth position with three games lost. They share it with Dax-Gamarde. Lorient will meet at home Union Rennes (#12) in the next round where they are favorite. La Rochelle will play against Vitre (#5) and hope to secure a win.
