Regular Season Round 6: Gernika - Estudiantes 63-57

There was no surprise when 14th ranked Estudiantes (1-5) was defeated on the road by eighth ranked Gernika (3-3) 63-57 on Saturday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The best player for the winners was American forward Tinara Moore (190-96, college: CMU) who scored 17 points. The other American import swingman Angie Bjorklund (183-89, college: Tennessee) chipped in 15 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Arica Carter (173-96, college: Louisville) who recorded 11 points and 4 assists and the former international guard Laura Quevedo (185-96, college: Miami, FL) added 15 points respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Gernika moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Estudiantes lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the fifteenth position with five games lost. Gernika will meet higher ranked Zaragoza (#5) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Estudiantes will play against the league's second-placed Valencia (#2) and hope to win that game.
