Very predictable result in Barcelona where eleventh ranked Estepona (3-3) outscored bottom-ranked Maresme (0-6) 87-63 on Saturday. Estepona dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Maresme's 30. Estepona forced 20 Maresme turnovers and outrebounded them 48-33 including 35 on the defensive glass. Montenegrin center Ana Pocek (190-93) had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Bahamas center Waltiea Rolle (198-90, college: UNC) chipped in 14 points and 13 rebounds during the contest. Five Estepona players scored in double figures. Estepona's coach Beatriz Pacheco felt very confident using entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was Swiss Camila Martinez (183-1) with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Finnish guard Sara Rokkanen (178-96, college: Toledo) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. Estepona moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Plasencia. Loser Maresme still closes the standings with six games lost. Estepona will meet at home higher ranked Paterna (#7) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Maresme will play against Real Canoe (#14) in Madrid and hopes to get finally their first victory.
