But Batumi was not able to use a home court advantage and was edged by the opponent from Tbilisi 100-97 on Saturday night. Batumi was trailing by 14 points at halftime but managed to get 11-point lead after three quarters before a 27-16 charge of Dinamo, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 17-14. Dinamo shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 55.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Dinamo made 7 blocks. Forward Vladimer Tavakarashvili (197-2) scored 32 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and American guard Ben College (184-98, college: Whitworth) chipped in 33 points (!!!) (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) during the contest. Dinamo's coach Talba Toudjani allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The former international power forward Beka Bekauri (209-91, agency: BIG) responded with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists and power forward Ioseb Gognadze (205-96) scored 18 points and 8 rebounds. Four Batumi players scored in double figures. Dinamo's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena Mega.
