Regular Season Round 3: Ponzano - Alpo 48-57

There was a small surprise in Veneto where Alpo (1-2) defeated Ponzano (1-2) 57-48 on Saturday. Alpo forced 23 Ponzano turnovers. It was a great evening for Croatian guard Lana Packovski (172-94) who led her team to a victory scoring 17 points and 5 rebounds. Sofia Marangoni (177-95) helped adding 10 points and 5 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Dutch center Richelle Van Der Keijl (196-93, college: N.Mexico) with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Viviana Giordano (175-89) scored 4 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Ponzano's coach Anna Zimerle tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Alpo will meet at home Torino (#12) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Ponzano will play against Udine (#5) and hope to win that game.
